I’m planning on studying acting in university and pursuing an acting career after, but I just wanted to make sure of things since i’m not American.

How could pretending turn into something so far from reality? I love actors, this isn't hate. But how is something like this just accepted as a final production, does nobody care or is a lack of realism a style..? I'd give an example but I don't want to be rude, of course. I LOVE ACTORS PS: not talking about comedy or…

My wife is being cast as background on a show at a major studio. But sort of specific background. They have her filming for 4 days, for one episode, as the assistant to one of the main characters, who happens to be a very big name actor. BUT so far no lines or anything, though she is getting a voucher for each day. We…

I’m not sure if there’s an area for SAG related questions but if there is please let me know! So I recently became SAG eligible after working 6 days as a background actor on a SAG set. I have the opportunity to work as background on another union movie but they have only Union vouchers for the day I was asked to be a p…

Hi. Here's the thing: at this moment I live in Europe and I've been offered a job (unrelated to acting) in Shanghai. I'm not a professional actor, but I've taken some classes and landed a few roles in short films in the past year. And I really really like it. And I want to keep doing it and to keep growing as an actor…

Hi everyone, In September/October 2020 I'll be starting a German degree at university. I always thought being an actor would be a great profession, but in the end I decided not to pursue it. However, I recently came across an article by [timeshighereducation.com](https://timeshighereducation.com) stating that *"languag…

Over 48 hours, I started my new hobby. Background Acting. With 3 goals in mind. 1. Perform law enforcement type backgrounds such as police officer, deputy sheriff, FBI agent, etc. 2. Obtain my SAG-AFTRA card, but enjoy the ride until then. 3. Take acting classes and start co-starring with small lines, first in student…

I feel like me being a minor is seriously holding me back. I go to auditions, get multiple callbacks, but they always comment on me being a minor and I never hear back. This one in particular I thought I had in the bag. I went to several callbacks, even a makeup test, but this morning they offered for me to play an ext…

For some scripts, an actor/actress has to be very sensitive right? So would too much rehearsing desensitise them from the emotional impact of the scene. Reason I’m asking this is because the more we’re exposed to something, the less sensitive we become to it. For example, a sad scene in a movie is massively impactful t…

Obligatory not an actor disclaimer. I’ve got a friend who is trying to become an actor and has not had success but they’re only three years into pursuing it so they’re not outlandish by any stretch. They recently finished writing a one-man play and they’re keen for me and a few others to watch it and give honest feedba…

I am currently writing a special original short film for my YouTube channel, and am seeking a voice actor who is able to deliver a convincing impersonation of our master of horror himself, Stephen King. I am looking for the closest impersonation that i can find. If anyone is interested in sending over an audition tape,…

Where are you guys going did casting calls? All throughout the summer to around the end of September I had about 4-5 auditions. Howdy, So I recently applied to study at the second best acting school in the world. I made it to the call back and now have to wait until after the 10th of December to see if I’ve made it into the actual school. But realistically speaking, I’m not too hopefully. Only 20 people will be chosen, and they’re going to mult…

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve never really felt or experienced emotion. Whether something very good or very bad happens, I feel pretty much the same on the inside. Kind of hard to explain unless you've ever seen a high school theatre production or have just been a self-aware kid actor, but something I've noticed in all of my school productions is that everyone sounds the same. I’m really interested in chameleon actors. People like Joaquin Phoenix and Meryl Streep who don’t even seem to be acting, it’s like an entirely different freaking human being, to the point where you don’t even recognize them in spite of the same face/body.
