I would like to work in the industry while training as an actress, because I think it would be very useful and interesting to see how things fork and learn more about this world. Even bringing coffee to stuff members would be great! What and where should I look for (in UK or Italy) to get a job in this industry?

I'm a high school student who wants to become an actor. I am currently in my sophomore year and I have 3 shows in my 2 years of taking Theatre class. As the title says, I want to improve on my range. I'm really great with genuine, emotional pieces, but I want to improve on my comedic and angry pieces. Do you have any ti…

Hey y'all, I'm trying to assess next steps for myself as an actor, and I believe that getting an agent is the best next step. I'm young (22F) and somewhat green (I started auditioning about 1.5 years ago), but I have a few professional theatrical credits (mostly non-union) as well as some pretty legit connections imo.…

Hi, I'm submitting a voice acting audition, and my friend (another actor) read the side with me. The instructions on the audition say "Send us a file as a single take." Should I submit my reader's voice, or should I take it out and just submit my voice? Also, in general, should I submit a reader's voice in my voiceover…

Hi all, I’ll be participating in a workshop whose description states, “This class will focus on Vocal Separation between multiple characters within the same show...” What is Vocal Separation in this case? When I Google, all I find are articles on separating audio in a Daw. Is it the same as not stepping on actors’ toes…

I went to a small drama school from the ages of about 8 - 12 years old and I really enjoyed it. At around 11 I was super nervous about moving up to secondary school that I thought I was going to get bullied or something because I did drama so I decided that when I went to secondary school I would quit drama even though…

I hope this question is allowed. The Actors Equity and SAG offices are probably closed but before I try hopping on over there I thought that I’d ask here. Do the unions have an online network of some kind for their members during the Covid crisis, that you know of?

This is the most frequent and most ANNOYING question for me, when I tell someone I’m a voice actor and they ask me to “do a voice”. I’ll say “I don’t do impressions or anything, I just act”, they’ll say “so you talk in your normal voice all the time?” I say no, and they’ll say “then do a voice” I never know what to do…

Hi everyone, I'm writing this post here since I'm just trying to find some consolation. Id like to hear what your routines are like when not working. There’s no right or wrong answer im just curious! How do you stay sharp and practice in-between auditions? **When might you be non-naturalistic on camera?** So far I can think of two instances: stylised comedy (Fleabag, Community, Inbetweeners, Toast of London, slapstick stuff) and heightened reality (Baz Luhrmann). Would we agree on the above? Or would you say that anything that isn't naturalism is stylised? And that there…

I come from a model-minority culture where we are told to be a doctor or a lawyer, or go into bio/tech and that's pretty much it. So when I said I wanted to be an actor I was literally shamed for it. I was told actresses are all sluts/sleep with directors, actresses are stupid and not smart, and shamed, shamed, shamed.…

I’m an NYC based actor. My agent-manager (he acted as both since he was in the business for 30+ years) passed away during the summer, I am distraught by only recently finding out about it. I hadn’t heard from him but I believed it was because covid had slowed things down so much that he just didn’t have anything for me…

I wanted to share some thoughts after having a VO session for a big client yesterday. Gigs are not the only work that matters. We have to shift our perspective to view all of the work we do—honing our craft (drama/comedy, accents, etc.), networking, promotion—as being just as important. First, this gives us more of a s…
